The Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer

The Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer

Ive always been a bit of a fan of the Dyson brand. With its innovative technology, its clever marketing and premium status, I jumped for joy when I heard about its latest tech… the Supersonic hairdryer but wow, it also comes with a Supersonic price tag of £299 and 99p!  So… is it worth it and does it do what they say….

I have long, thick (and dyed) hair so Ive always invested in a decent hairdryer and for many years was a great advocate of the Parlux which they use in my own hairdressers. The parlux is big, heavy and powerful and when I first unpacked this lightweight compact dryer with its innovative design, I did question whether it would be up to the job.

The features

The Dyson Supersonic hairdryer has four heat settings and three speed settings as well as a cold shot for styling. It also measures its own temperature every 20 seconds so that it self regulates and prevents extreme heat and therefore protecting the hair.

The hairdryer comes with a smoothing  and a styling nozzle (also magnificently designed)  as well as a diffuser for curly hair. The magnetic design feature means that the attachments snap on and move around with minimal effort.

The other feature of the hairdryer is the V9 motor which  sits within the handle of making it really easy to hold and manoeuvre unlike traditional hairdryers.

The three main claims from Dyson are that the Supersonic is quieter than other dryers, that it dries your hair more quickly and that it protects your hair from heat damage…

The Vedict

Yes the Dyson supersonic hairdryer is quieter than any traditional hair dryer than I’ve ever had! I mean, it still wakes up my hubby and kids in the morning when Im getting ready for work and it still terrifies my cat but its definatley quieter than my old Parlux.

It has also definately cut at least 10 minutes off the time it takes to dry my hair. The nozzles direct the airflow so no more bits of hair flying around, its more controlled and definately quicker.

As for preventing heat damage, its pretty much impossible for me to say as my poor dyed hair is already quite coarse and I havent noticed any improvement to this ( I also squash it into submission with my hair starightners) so I really couldn’t judge.

So overall, would I say it was worth the Supersonic Price Tag? Ummm…. yes I definitely would!! It is lighter, quieter and much easier to use, plus..…it looks really cool.

Where to Buy

I bought mine from Dyson directly but its also on sale at Boots, Currys, John Lewis and Selfridges. You can even buy it in 23.75 karat gold now…if you have a spare £399.99 lying around that is.

I’m sick of my non-powerful hair dryer now and want a new one. I might have to drop a few hints to hubby for Xmas x #TriumphantTales
