Liverpool is one of the UKs most famous and successful City. Home to two premier league football teams, Liverpool (YAYYY) and Everton (BOOO), birthplace of the Beatles and winner of the European Capital of Culture in 2008… to name just a few!
Liverpool has become more and more popular as a tourist destination due to its famous landmarks, its amazing nightlife, its plethora of high steet and designer shops and a fantastic array of hotels.
So if you are planning a few days in Liverpool, here are just a few of the things you should do!
Visit the Tate museum, take a tour of the Beatles Museum or stop for food and drinks at one of the many restaurants, coffee shops or bars at the Albert Dock. You can even take a ferry acorss the mersey to view the world famous waterfront or stop off at the Woodside ferry termninal in the Wirral for a free tour of the U boat story. (They even play ‘ferry ‘cross the Mersey’ all the way through the journey, definately one not to miss!)
If you are a football fan, you have to vist the World Famous, Anfield Stadium. This bus tour leaves the Albert dock every hour and stops off at the stadium, the Bill Shankly Museum and Canada Boulevard.
If you’d rather see more of the other famous Liverpool landmarks, there is also an explorer bus tour which stops off at 14 iconic destinations such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Bombed Out Church and the Philarmonic Pub.
Everyone visiting the city has to take the time to visit the world famous ‘Matthew Street’ and home to the Cavern Club. Here you will find shops, bars and clubs and after dark on a Friday and Saturday night, youll find some of the best nightlife in the City!
This is Liverpools first steet food market which is based in the iconic Cains Brewery. From bakeries, to bars, and from art to music, the Baltic market celebrates Liverpools strong independant scene. Its definately one to visit and you just have to try the Halloumi fries!
Liverpool One is the shopping hub of the City Centre and home to hundreds of high street and designer shops. Liverpool One also boasts of numerous coffee shops, bars and retaurants as well as a large cinema so there really is something for everyone! You should also check out the events programme as there is always something running all year round – most recently, a number of ‘Carole-oke’ huts for festive karaoke fun!
To pick just five top attractions in Liverpool has not been easy as you will find that there is just so much to see and do! Most of all though, enjoy it and don’t be surprised if you see the gorgeous Liverpool girls out in their hair rollers during the day! Its a unique friendly and fun City!
